Can I let whitening tooth paste on my teeth?

strange question, but I have no whitening toothpaste. . Do you think if I put my teeth together and let sit for 10 minutes, or what would be the whiting my teeth better and faster than just brushing your teeth every day to be? Crest Whitening strips hurt my teeth!
